Jail, Clairemont, Texas

Clairemont was founded in the late 1880's and was the original county seat of Kent County, Texas which borders my home county of Garza on the east. In the 1950's the county seat was moved to Jayton (estimated 1994 population: 505) about 18 miles away.   Probably some county employees also had to move but there is no word as to whether or not they had problems adapting to a big city life-style.
