Handtinted Portfolio

Handtinting offers boundless expressive possibilities for changing the look or feel of an image.   Most of the photographs in this portfolio are the end result of a collaborative effort by my wife, Eddie Jo, and myself.  She is better at handtinting and much more patient.  The nature of the collaboration varies.  We usually just discuss how we want the image to ÒfeelÓ and may go though several versions before we both are satisfied.  I may suggest colors (Cafe, Grassland,Texas)or tell her to use her imagination (Cityscape #2).  Strangely enough,  we seldom disagree.

I usually have handtinting in mind when I make the image.  Most are toned a shade of brown using sepia, sulfide or selenium toners, or a combination of these, with only parts of the image being handtinted.
